Change the default language of WebLogic Server Log

When you run WebLogic Server on an Operating System with regional settings set to a non-English language, the log files are written in that language. Although the error message translated is easy to read and understand, it can be tricky to find some information about this error on the internet, because most sites and documents about Oracle Fusion Middleware are in English.

To change the language of the messages in the log files, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to your domain root directory (MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/MY_DOMAIN).
  2. Open the file:
    • Linux: bin/
    • Windows: bin/setDomainEnv.cmd
  3. Search for EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES and add the following lines:
# Windows:

# Linux:

To make this change in IntegratedWebLogicServer:

  1. Go to your user root directory.
  2. Open the file:
    • Linux: .jdeveloper/system11.1.1.7.xx.xx.xx/DefaultDomain/bin/
    • Windows: AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.7.xx.xx.xx\DefaultDomain\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
  3. Search for EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES and add the previous settings.
